There’s a person behind the backend.

Curious about the person you might be working with? The short version is that I am calm, curious, and not easily thrown off course — even when a problem turns out to be bigger than expected.

We’ll get it sorted.

Steady progress. Low drama. Work gets done.

Colleagues would probably describe me as calm, patient, capable, and dependable. I take ownership, approach complex problems methodically, and keep going until the solution works in the real world — even if the code takes more than one pass.

Curiosity over dogma.

My home turf is backend, cloud, and data, but I have never been afraid to venture off the beaten path. That has included custom Android ROM builds for Chinese hardware, native apps, Umbraco, cloud infrastructure, and automated media workflows. When a problem matters, I learn whatever it takes to solve it.

Family, fitness, and projects without a deployment pipeline.

Most of my free time is spent with my family and three boys. The rest goes to working out, running, cycling, gardening, and an ongoing house renovation. Apparently, I also enjoy problems best solved with an actual toolbox.

I follow football too — especially Liverpool FC. It occasionally affects my mood more than it should.

From zero to 25,000 monthly visitors.

Before children and family life took over most of my free time, I built a content site about German Shepherds out of curiosity and taught myself SEO and organic growth along the way. It reached 25,000 monthly visitors before I sold it. Not backend architecture, but a good example of how I like to see an idea through.
